Question by a_joemar: it is advisable/good to use big rims on a pickup/suv while hitting off road track? (mud,grass,gravel..)?
let’s say the stock tires and rims are:
265/70 R16
and later the set are upgraded let’s say the rims is 20″ and tire surrounding it looks almost thin..you know..almost common set-up for luxury cars/sports car..wherein you can barely see the rubber.
now, is this practical to use in off road?
please advice what would be the effect.
thanks

The first rock you hit will ruin the tire and break the rim.
The sidewall provides cushioning, so for off-roading you want a taller, not a shorter sidewall- like going to a 75 or 78 series tire instead of the stock 70s. Typically, off-road tires have very high sidewalls, often twice the height of stock tire sidewalls. For your vehicle, I’d find some 15″ rims that fit and get 32X11.50R15 LT lug tires.
