Question by Nick: What gear ratio will work best off road?
I have a 97 TJ with the 4.0. Its got a 4 inch suspension lift and a 3 inch body lift with 33 inch swampers. It still has the stock axles except for lockers that I installed. It is used off road only. The only time it sees pavement is between the trailer and the garage. I’m wondering how low I can go with the gears before I have to worry about snapping the pinion. What would work best for off road? I like to do some pretty nasty trails but also like to just put it in gear and putts down the easy trails. I still want to be able to get wheel speed for cleaning out the tires in the mud tho. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

WOW, this is kinda tough to answer without knowing what kind of transmission you have, what the low range is in the transfer case, and what axles you have. I have owned Jeeps with differential gears of 4.10, 4.27, 4.88, and 5.38. All had either a straight 4 or V6 engine with a Spicer 18 transfer case and dana 25, 27, and 44 axles. My best Jeep had the V6. It had a 3 speed transmission with a 3.10 first gear, a 2.46 low range in the transfer case, and 4.88 differentials with 33 inch tires. This gave me a 37.21 crawl ratio and it went anywhere I drove it. The thing I liked about the 4.88′s was that it drove well on the highways because of the Warn overdrive and got decent milage.
If you have an automatic transmission you can get by with 4.10′s due to the torque doubling effect of the tranny. Personally I’d go with the 4.88′s and see if you can use the thick ring gear as this will give you a stronger pinion shaft due to the smaller diameter pinion gear.

Question by The Unrelenting Atheist: Could it be a bent spindle?
I hit a curb at about 15 miles an hour, my tire and rim took most of the impact but the tire sits about an inch or two further back than it used to, causing the tire to rub the rear of the fender near the mud flap. I thought maybe I bent the bottom A frame but it doesn’t look like that is the case, could it be the spindle that is bent causing the tire to be out of position?

Take it to a shop and let them check it out.
It may be more than just a spindle that got bent.
Sorry for the bad news.

Question by Thomas C: Who else, besides me, will be very angry if they have a Benoit-vs.-Chavo rivalry?
I am absolutely tired of the WWE smearing mud in the face of Eddie’s name with this crap! Not only is this one of the worst things that they ever done, but they are also using those close to Eddie to use it. Also they are wasting Benoit’s time with this crap, he should be challenging for the World Heavyweight Title so we can finally have a deserving champion instead of Roidtista, but no, once again Vince is putting Benoit in a midcard match so he can push his subpar wrestlers in our face. This is why alot of people are switching to TNA. Who else agrees?

Question by AM: Help with reparing my bicycle?
Actually i got a nice mountain bike for free. but it is having some very minor problems.
First of all it has very small dots of rust at some places… as no one used the cycle in last 1 yr therefore the chain also have some rust… How can i remove this rust… and can i use cooking oil to oil it afterwards?
There is a minor fault with the adjustment of the rear brake… It touches with the tyre and makes a noise and sometimes make the tyre heavy… any solution for that?
There are no mud gaurds on the bicycle and i am not able to find them in any cycle shop in my vicinity… any idea of how to make mud gaurds by myself?
can anyone recommend me a good site that can help me in repairing my bicycle my self….

try this site its pretty helpful. and as far as the rust lightly sand the area until its gone then get some touch up paint at your local automotive store. dont use cooking oil try using regular grease and grease the chain the rust will wear off.and as far as the brake try loosening it and readjusting it that should do the trick.good luck.
